When the Mac app is the better tool
For a range inside a huge sheet, select cells in the Mac app and choose Edit, Copy As, Markdown Table.

Does this leave my computer?
No. The table is built in the browser.
What flavor of Markdown is this?
A GitHub-style pipe table. Pipes in cells are escaped. Newlines become line-break tags.
